Dickens was the literary father figure of A.H. Reed, whose collection included several private press editions. The Limited Editions Club version illustrated by Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was issued in 1931 in a run of 1500 copies.
The Golden Cockerel Press issued their edition of The cricket on the hearth with water-coloured illustrations by Hugh Thomson (1860-1920) in 1933, also in a run of 1500 copies.
